A vast expanse of golden sand surrounded by rocky outcrops provides the perfect setting for a spot of rock-pooling, surfing and family fun at Crooklet's beach in Bude.
It's a fantastic all-round beach, great for swimming and surfing and is surrounded by excellent facilities including a large car park, level access, a play area, skate park, beach café, showers, amusements and pubs nearby.
Colourful beach huts are available for daily hire for between £10 and £20 a day from Bude Tourist Information Centre.
At low tide, you can walk to neighbouring Summerleaze beach, with its part man-made, part natural sea pool for that alternative salty dip.
Lifeguards are on duty between May 15 and September 26 and dogs are welcome on the beach out of season from September 30 to May 15. During the summer months, a dog ban is in place between 10am and 6pm.
Crooklets is also home to Bude Surf Life Saving Club.
The beach, which can get a bit busy during the height of summer, received a Blue Flag Award in 2021.
Just four minutes’ walk from the beach at Widemouth Bay, Gwelmor is a luxurious, self-catering holiday cottage which sleeps six (plus travel cot).
Our property welcomes three dogs and has a host of provisions to make your dog's stay as relaxing as yours.
Gwelmor was named the South West's Best Dog Friendly Business of the Year 2021/2022 and won Gold at the Cornwall Tourism Awards 2021/2022.
