A winter beach break is the pawfect escape

Indy and Margo enjoy a private dip

Widemouth Bay in winter is the perfect way to blow away the cobwebs and recharge worn down batteries and, as a bonus, you may well find you have the beach to yourselves

Margo in her element

For the dog-lovers amongst us, Gwelmor is surrounded by fabulous beaches such as Sandymouth, Northcott, Summerleaze and Crooklets.

Widemouth Bay itself is just a four minute walk from Gwelmor's front door and is a Blue Flag beach, meaning it is recognised internationally as one of the best beaches in the world.

At low tide, Widemouth rock pools are exposed providing the perfect spot for exploration and a spot of crab spotting.

If you can face the temperature, fantastic conditions at Widemouth Bay mean is a great spot to learn to surf or body board and there are a number of surf schools operating from the beach.

Out of season the beaches are all dog-friendly so you and your best friend can paddle to your heart's content. If you're coming between May and September, some have restrictions so check local notice boards.
